To teach our students, we use a Scion (Toyota) xA. This car was chosen for specific reasons (outlined below) that will make your stick shift learning experience fun, easy, and safe:
First of all, the dashboard display is located in the center of the car, so that Matt can better monitor your inputs and give you constructive feedback without having to peek over your shoulder. The location of these dials also helps keep your eyes closer to the road, making the learning experience much safer than a standard car that requires you to look down at the dials.
Secondly, the car has short gearing. This means that you will have an easier time learning how to use the clutch, because everything can be practiced at lower speeds than your average car. Pair this with its decisive transmission, and the learning curve just gets steeper.
Driving a manual is all about having fun, and this car helps you achieve exactly that!
